Perched on a majestic and fascinating cliff, Vernazza is now classed among the most beautiful hundred villages in Italy.
Once more prosperous than the other village of the Cinque Terre, Vernazza hosts architectural elements such as loggias, arcades and portals.
The village, noble and elegant, stands along Vernazzola creek – now covered – perched on the slopes of a rocky outcrop.
The narrow streets leading down to the main road, end up in a small square in front of the marina.
Vernazza has many defensive constructions, tower-houses.
The most famous is the Torrione and the castle of the Doria, a symbol of the economic importance in the pasttimes,
which protected it against Saracens and barbarian invasions.
The village has a small marina for berthing of boats.
